Corbin's Pro Dovetail Maker Gadget
Corbin's Pro Dovetail Maker Gadget is software that is an extension to Vectric VCarve, Aspire and Cut2D tools, written in the LUA programming language. After installing it, it will appear in the VCarve, Aspire or Cut2D "Gadgets" menu. Clicking on this menu entry will bring up Dovetail Maker, with which you can create vectors for a wide variety of dovetail joints. This is a serious tool meant for the professional woodworker, and has been well thought-through and tested. It comes with a 70+ page tutorial and user manual, which you can download below and look at before purchase. You can purchase and download this software below.

Here are some examples of the kinds of joints you can make with Dovetail Maker:
Box Joints; Through Dovetails; The usual Half-Blind machine cut Dovetails:
You can also cut Half-Blind Dovetails that have narrow pins that look like hand cut joints, that require a little chopping of the corners. You can cut rounded Half-Blind Dovetails that do not require hand chopping. You can also cut a rare type of joint: the Full-Blind Mitered dovetail joint:
You can also cut a few kinds of decorative joints:
For all the above joints you have complete freedom to specify the number and size of the tails, the dovetail angle, the tightness of the joint and other options, and can use backer boards and cut some joints more than one at a time.
Perhaps best of all is that you can cut sliding dovetails of any length and with whatever taper you want. The joint will snug up perfectly along the taper just when the front is flush. You can specify a tightness parameter to adjust the fit. You can specify joints where the pinboard slot is longer than the tailboard, in which case the end of the slot will be rounded. Or if the pinboard and tailboard are the same width, the slot will be cut with no rounding. You can cut sliding dovetails with the taper either on the left side or the right side of the joint, and you can specify whether you want the slot to run along either the CNC X-axis or the CNC Y-axis.

To use Corbin's Pro Dovetail Maker Gadget you will need a CNC with a vertical vise, like the Legacy Maverick CNC below, because for each type of joint, either the pinboard or the tailboard or both are cut mounted vertically. I am now providing VCarve files, parts list and Instructions for the Vertical Workholding Fixture at no charge when purchasing my Dovetail Maker Gadget. Provided for a small charge otherwise.

Release Notes:
Version Production 1.2.1:
-- Fixed a minor bug in which the roughing path for the traditional half-blind
pinboard cut horizontally was incorrectly gouging the corners of the inside
of the dovetail bit path. The effect was more pronounced for larger dovetail
angles.
-- The protrusion option was not working on the half-blind dovetails with a
horizontal pinboard.
-- Drill-down toolpath instruction depth was wrong in some cases.
-- Added an option to miter the half pins on the ends of through dovetail joints
when the pinboard and the tailboard are the same thickness. It adds vectors
for using the VCarve Moulding toolpath to cut the miters. Adjusts the
pinboard vectors to make the tailboard easier to match up. Requires a small
amount of hand cleanup of a 1/8" radius on the tailboard miters, but a
chisel and a shoulder plan do a quick job of cleaning it up. Beautiful joint,
expecially if the top edge of your drawer box is rounded.
-- Added instructions for creating another lovely decorative dovetail joint.
Version Production 1.3:
-- Fixed a minor problem with pinboard pockets on the wide side of the trapezoidal
pocket for which a slight amount of material was not properly cleared when
the end mill center stops at the edge of the material. It now travels further
out to clear all the material in the corner of the pocket.
-- Added additional overtravel to all the pinboard pockets.
-- Changed the "Miter End Half Pin" option to be two separate and independent
options: One to miter only the top half pin, and one to miter only the bottom
half pin, to simplify a lot of joints when you really don't need to
miter the bottom end, since it may not normally be visible.
-- Extended the mitering of end half pins to work on all through joints,
including joints that cut the tailboard horizontal.
-- Extended the mitering of end half pins to work on double pinboards or tailboard
cut vertically. This creates a V-shaped path for the moulding toolpath.
-- Enhanced the Full-blind joint to generate moulding toolpath vectors for
cutting the long narrow 45 degree miter.
-- Enhanced the Full-blind joint to allow end half pin miters.
-- Added the ability to cut multiple parts together horizontally as long as you
are not cutting end half pin miters.
-- Added the ability to save all the Dovetail Options to a human readable file,
and load options from a previously saved file. This allows unlimited numbers
of option sets and adds the ability to share options.
Version Production 1.3.1
-- Fixed a number of problems with drilldowns and bumpouts and double pinboards
and various other things.
