Designed by Corbin Woodworks, in a sculptured style popularized by Sam Maloof, for a grandmother who wanted to sit in the chair with two grandchildren and read while rocking. Material is African mahogany. The rockers are laminations alternating between hard maple and mahogany. Finish is dye stain followed by shellac and grain filler, and then three coats of oil and polyurethane.
Folding Rocking Chairs
The designer of these chairs claims that similar folding rockers were frequently brought along on covered wagons during trips on the old Oregon Trail. Vince has built and sold a number of these in two sizes: child and small adult.
Corbin Woodworks will design and build custom furniture and cabinets.
